Dialogue in this work

Page 1

  • Ah...
  • Yes...
  • So it was a no-go...
  • Yes...
  • I'll do my best for the next serialization meeting...
  • ...
  • Completely useless... That's me.
  • Maybe... this is where I call it quits.
  • Hm?
  • This path between the rice paddies is...

Page 2

  • It's been 10 years since then...
  • UOOOH!
  • Tsubame!! Get the backgrounds and tones done on this page!!
  • Okay!! The white-out's dry, so Karasuma, can you handle this part?!

Page 3

  • We're done!
  • That was another close one...
  • But we drew a great manga!
  • We've drawn all sorts of manga over these three years.
  • Like "The Slipper Chronicles of the Other-Dimensional Grandma" and "Professor Panda's Time Travel Seminar."
  • Those make no sense...
  • Me on characters, Tsubame on backgrounds...
  • But it was fun!
  • The ultimate duo!!
  • We really did a lot for a manga club with only two members.
  • ...
  • Hm?
  • Ah.
  • Uhhh...
  • Um...
  • Our next project!
  • What should we draw next winter?

Page 4

  • Actually...
  • You remember that manga we drew about the designer who got reincarnated in another world?
  • I'm planning to take the entrance exams this winter and go to a university in Tokyo.
  • !
  • I've been thinking I want to try studying design seriously.
  • Oh, but I have no idea how far I'll get?!
  • I might even be doing something completely different in a few years!
  • Oh...
  • I see.
  • Right.
  • In three years, you might have a job telling the gender of baby chicks.
  • Isn't that a little too edgy for the plot?!

Page 5

  • Well, this is my way.
  • Yeah... See you tomorrow.
  • What about you, Karasuma?
  • Huh?
  • What are you going to do next year, Karasuma?
  • I'm...
  • I'm going to stay here and keep drawing manga.

Page 6

  • ...I see.
  • I'm sure that's the best thing for you!
  • Yeah...
  • I'm not running away!!!
  • Moving to Tokyo?! University?! What the hell is that?!
  • Karasuma's manga...
  • As for me!!
  • After we've spent all this time drawing manga together...
  • I'm not gonna become some boring person like that!!!
  • I'm absolutely going to keep drawing!!!

Page 7

  • ...
  • ...Ah...
  • It's okay!
  • I believe in you, Karasuma. I know you can do it.
  • Because...
  • Because you're—
  • The path between the rice paddies where we parted ways...
  • I said some really terrible things to her...
  • I'd never even thought about the future...
  • No... maybe I was just trying not to think about it.
  • Huh?
  • Could that be... Tsubame?

Page 8

  • Huh...
  • It IS you, Karasuma! Long time no see!
  • How have you been?
  • Wha— Tsubame...?!
  • What are you doing back home...?
  • And also, that kid...
  • You're overreacting a little!
  • I married a coworker last year.
  • I'm back for a slightly longer visit for the Obon holiday.
  • Tsubame...
  • It's so nostalgic coming back after so long.
  • I wonder how many years it's been since I last rode the bus here.
  • You've really grown up...
  • —And also,
  • It might be a long time for you, Karasuma...
  • But I've been watching you this whole time.
  • Huh?

Page 9

  • You've been drawing manga all this time, right?
  • You've been uploading it online,
  • and you've been published in magazines sometimes, too!
  • I'd post my thoughts and stuff on Twitter, like this.
  • Huh...
  • The magazines...? You went out of your way to get such obscure ones?!
  • Of course!
  • I know you're working hard, aiming for a serialization, too!
  • Ah.
  • I was too embarrassed to tell you directly, so it was more like I was just talking to myself.
  • I've seen comments from this person so many times when I was ego-surfing...
  • Why...
  • Why are you cheering for me like that?
  • Because...
  • I told you back then, didn't I?

Page 10

  • You've always been—
  • The world's greatest manga artist, the one who draws my favorite manga!
  • Maybe I'll try a little harder...
  • The one who changed wasn't her...
  • I see...
  • Huh?
  • No, it's nothing.
  • ...Come to think of it, I have some business over by your house.
  • You're holding a kid, so don't fall in the ditch.
  • I'll be fine!
  • Oh, then let's walk together!
  • Let's catch up!
  • By the way, what's the baby's name?
  • Ummm, it's a secret!!
  • So what kind of manga are you planning to draw next?
  • What's that about?
  • Maybe a story about job hunting... set in a fantasy world...
