Dialogue in this work

Page 1

  • Torajiro

Page 2

  • Once, there was a mighty warrior who made the Afterlife tremble.
  • An arrogant heretic with overwhelming power.
  • This monster, feared throughout the entire Underworld...
  • ...after several thousand years...

Page 3

  • Yawn...
  • Ugh, I don't wanna go to work...
  • ...had completely mellowed out,
  • Mmmph!!
  • This place's dango really is the best!
  • ...and was living peacefully as the Great King of the Afterlife!

Page 4

  • Finds a Baby!
  • Torajiro

Page 5

  • The Great King!
  • Chapter 1

Page 6

  • This is the Afterlife.
  • A place called the Shinigami World, where souls wander.
  • Boss! We've got a customer with a mobile order!
  • Huh?!

Page 7

  • A mobile order?!
  • You're right! I just noticed!
  • Check, please!
  • Do you take credit cards?
  • We take Visa.
  • Oh, I've got a Mastercard...
  • The Afterlife is in the modern age, too.
  • Okay, I'll use PayPay then.
  • With the introduction of culture from the Living World,
  • there's too much to learn!
  • I'm from the abacus generation!
  • it had become a digital society with free Wi-Fi!
  • Thank you very much!
  • Boss, someone left their smartphone outside.
  • A smartphone?

Page 8

  • Th...
  • This smartphone is...!
  • He forgot it yesterday too, didn't he?!
  • I'm the one who returned it, right...?
  • Seriously... get it together...
  • This is the fifth time this month.
  • Great King...!
  • You guys must be bored. Lucky you...
  • So peaceful...
  • Same old thing, day in and day out.
  • Great King of Shinigami

Page 9

  • There's not a single person out in the suburbs.
  • Super easy to slack off. It's the best!
  • But it's just not exciting enough...
  • I wish something interesting would happen...
  • It's been a long time since I became the Great King, but...
  • not a single incident has occurred.
  • It's been picture-perfect peace.
  • Maybe I went a little too wild back in the day...
  • Meeooowww.
  • Oh!
  • That's a kitty!
  • Having a cat at home would be nice!!
  • Meeooww.
  • If it's a stray, maybe I'll take it home!
  • Where are you!
  • Ah! There you are!

Page 10

  • Meow meow! Kitty!
  • Let's play together!
  • Waaaaaah!
  • Cam 1
  • Cam 2
  • Cam 3
  • Huh...?

Page 11

  • Huh? A cat...
  • Goo.
  • Gah.
  • ...it's not, it's a baby.
  • I was hoping to get a cat, though...
  • Ah.
  • Ooh.
  • Can't just leave him here.
  • Guess I'll take him back to my place for now...

Page 12

  • Boss!
  • There he is! It's the Great King of Shinigami, no doubt about it!
  • Hehehe...! Well done!
  • So the rumors about him wandering around here were true!
  • What are you...
  • Now we'll find the Great King's weakness...
  • ...and make him promote us!
  • You're brilliant, Boss! What's next...?
  • Think...!!
  • I'm thinking...!!

Page 13

  • We're ridiculously strong...! We've reaped countless souls...!
  • And yet we're still just Apprentice Shinigami...!!
  • For thirty years...!
  • It's not fair...!
  • It ain't fair, boss!
  • We came to confront the Great King directly, but...
  • How are we gonna bring this up...? If all three of us jump him... can we even win...?
  • B-Boss!
  • The Great King... he's got a kid with him!
  • A... a kid?!
  • He's carrying a baby!
  • C-Carrying?!
  • The Great King's not married, is he?
  • It might be his secret love child!

Page 14

  • There's no way we can't use this to our advantage...!
  • I wonder what time it is.
  • Forgot my phone.
  • Izumi's so annoying when I'm late...

Page 15

  • Gah!
  • Whoa.
  • I'm really flying!

Page 16

  • Poor thing, being held so carelessly.
  • Thanks to that, it was easy for us to snatch him. A real help.
  • Great King.
  • Nice crow! Is that your familiar?!
  • It's huge.
  • Uh... yeah, it's my familiar. The boss of the crows.
  • Amazing! That's so cool!
  • So, what's up?
  • I've got work to get to.
  • W-We...
  • Listen... we've been Apprentice Shinigami for thirty years now.
  • Even though we're super strong...!
  • Promote us from apprentices!

Page 17

  • If you refuse...
  • You know what'll happen... right?
  • Nope.
  • I don't have that kind of authority.
  • Wh...
  • If you're apprentices, why not ask your site supervisor?
  • And take care of the baby for me, will ya?
  • I-It's not your kid?!
  • Just found him a little while ago.
  • I'm tellin' ya, if you don't do what we say, we'll kill the baby!
  • Hmm?
  • It's not like you guys have the guts to kill anyone, though.

Page 18

  • That does it!!
  • I mean, seriously...
  • The very idea that you could get to me by targeting this baby...
  • ...is exactly why you're still just apprentices.

Page 19

  • You know, the owner of my favorite dango shop...
  • D-Dango?!
  • He spent decades in the Living World training to make Japanese sweets,
  • then opened his shop here and spent decades more...

Page 20

  • ...making dango every single day.
  • That's how his shop finally got popular recently.
  • He shot up straight from being an apprentice,
  • and now he's one of the top artisans in the Shinigami World!
  • Don't you think you guys need that kind of single-minded dedication?

Page 21

  • Wai...
  • Stop...
  • St...
  • Please stand by.

Page 22

  • Glad there was a water fountain nearby.
  • Ah.
  • Oh, right.
  • Here!
  • It's dango from that shop I was just talking about!
  • They had a pack of three, so you can have it!
  • A Shinigami's lifespan is longer than a human's,
  • so you should enjoy your time as an apprentice more!
  • He's mocking us...

Page 23

  • He's making a fool of us...
  • What's the tallest building around here, and how many meters is it?
  • ?
  • The library? It's six thousand meters, right?
  • From there, we'll take that baby...
  • Oh.
  • Ah.
  • ...and drop him...!

Page 24

  • He'll stop breathing and die on the way down...!
  • It'll be your fault for not promoting us!
  • It's all your fault for pissing us off...
  • Boss...!
  • That's...
  • Do it!
  • Yatagarasu!

Page 25

  • You'll live to regret this!
  • Boss!! That's going too far!
  • A little too high to jump...
  • Could you come here for a sec?
  • I'm not your personal taxi, you know.
  • It's just that a baby is currently falling.

Page 26

  • THEN WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY SO SOONER!!

Page 27

  • Ahahaha!

Page 28

  • That's a legendary dragon...
  • I can't even see it anymore.
  • ...and among them, the one called king... the Black Dragon...
  • Hahaha...
  • What were we thinking, doing something so stupid?
  • Mmph! This dango is seriously good!
  • Let me have some!
  • Mmph...
  • So good...!
  • This is by far the best dango I've ever had...!
  • He said it took decades to learn how to make this.
  • Yeah...

Page 29

  • Let's just work hard and be patient.
  • All we can do is keep at it.
  • He's fallen quite a ways.
  • I hope he's just unconscious.
  • !
  • Hehehe...!

Page 30

  • In this situation...
  • ...this face...!
  • I love it!!
  • That smile is priceless!!

Page 31

  • I'll make you my child.

Page 32

  • Let's get along from now on!
  • Ah
  • Baby!
  • Goo!

Page 33

  • Ooh!
  • Waaah!
  • If you enjoyed it,
  • We'd love a review!
